Get Into the Holiday Spirit With These 3 Flicks That Are Now Streaming

‘Tis the season for some streaming, fa la la la la la la la la – especially now, as we weigh the devastating impacts of the novel coronavirus on the holiday season. This year, we might not be able to gather for dinners, parties, and gatherings as we normally do. One facet of the holidays that COVID cannot take away, however, is enjoying all of your favorite, seasonal movies in the warmth and comfort of your apartment home.

Plus, in 2020, we have streaming services on our side, so you don’t necessarily have to own every movie you’d like to indulge in. Not sure where to start when queuing up your jingly-jangly list of inviting and spirited holiday movies? Check out our of 3 classics list below!

Home Alone

Starring: Macaulay Culkin, Catherine O’Hara, Joe Pesci, & Daniel Stern

Streaming: Disney+

Nowadays, a kid Kevin McAllister's age would probably have a basic flip phone to help his parents track him down faster, but that doesn't make this 1990 Christmas classic any less fun to watch. Kevin’s sense of invention in fending off the big bad burglars, who want to ransack his ritzy neighborhood during the holiday season, is worth the suspension of disbelief that any of this could ever actually happen.

It’s a Wonderful Life

Starring: James Stewart, Donna Reed, Henry Travers, & Thomas Mitchell

Streaming: Amazon

This classic Christmas movie centers on an everyman named George Bailey, who is down on his luck – and, even worse, it’s the holiday season! Released in 1946, It’s a Wonderful Life is still relatable today, as it focuses on themes of the human condition, like career, family, and of course, the holidays. The ending is so emotionally satisfying that it will make shout from the rooftops, like James Stewart himself.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Starring: Jim Carrey, Jeffrey Tambor, Taylor Momsen, & Anthony Hopkins

Streaming: Netflix

Ron Howard's modern take on Dr. Seuss' celebrated Christmas story might be a little zanier and less musically-oriented than the 1966 animated version of the same name, but it's still bound to leave the kiddos in stitches this season. Starring an all-star cast of comedians, like Jim Carrey, Jefferey Tambor, and Molly Shannon, it is just as enjoyable to its adult audience!
